Valorie Clifton
From early childhood, Ms Clifton has always been involved in
crafts.  She started with fiber crafts such as crochet,
cross-stitching, embroidery, quilting, and knitting.  In her teen
years she discovered bead looms and bead-work was just a
natural extension of sewing.  Recently, Ms Clifton learned how
to weave beads without a loom and she love the versatility this
provides for me.

Some of Ms Clifton's recent works include wire work, bead
weaving, chain-mail jewelry, digital painting and photography.

A native of western Nebraska, I grew up on a cattle ranch,
where I learned to appreciate nature and wild life. They are
two of my favorite art subjects, but the ones I like most are
Native Americans  and their culture. However twenty years
in the Navy broadened my interests, so no subject is really
off the table. I have no formal art training, but I have
always been one of its students. I started in stained glass,
but one trip to a large gourd show and I knew what my medium
would be. With the gourd, and a few tools,
only your imagination limits your creativity.

Linda  Koehler
Linda Koehler is a local artist originally from Pensacola Florida
and currently residing in Pace for over third years with her
husband Ed.
Working with many mediums has given her the ability to
approach new ideas and subject matter in exciting and colorful
works of art. Her most recent paintings on silk display a vibrant
use of liquid acrylic layering along with the watercolor
techniques using waterbased silk paints on Crepe De Chine,
China Silk or Flat Crepe. Teaching herself this new art form
has been challenging and very rewarding. When acrylics call,
she answers happily.

Sandi Lang
I’ve always done creative things with my hands: arranging,
decorating, crafting, potting. As I approached mid-life, I took up
tole painting as a challenging, color-filled art form, one with
many techniques and stules.

Recently, I’ve added polymer clay and fiber art to my
interests—again, the color-ixing and possibilities are endless.
That suits me just fine.

Using gourds as a surface has lead to a mixed-media
approach, which captures bits and pieces of all of the media I
enjoy.

I worked at Monsanto for 34 years and always said I would
find somebody to teach me how to Paint with Oil when I
retired.  Ladies would bring in paintings that were so pretty
and I just loved to look at them.  It is a lot easier to paint then it
is to draw for me.  Kate Rawls is the instructor that I found and
I told her she could not retire until she taught me all she knows.

Janet Shelby
My introduction to art was in Virginia in the 1980s when Phil,
my husband gave me art lessons for a birthday present. It has
turned out to be the best present I’ve ever received. I studied
oil painting under Suzanne Luker for about 5 years. Suzanne is
an impressionist artist and I believe she has greatly influenced
my work.
When I retired, I began painting again only this time working in
pastel, and started taking art from Elaine Woodward in Pace. I
was also lucky enough to take a workshop with Albert Handel,
one of the leading Pastelists in the world. I am enjoying pastels
so much that I wonder if I’ll ever get back to oils. If I may quote
a friend, I paint because it makes me smile.
